Canola Oil
It is a densely cultivated plant in America, Canada and European
countries. It entered to our country with tha name colza along with the
immigrants come from Bulgaria and Romania: it was first planted in Thrace. After
Tekirdağ, Edirne and Kırklareli, it was started to be planted in Samsun basin
areas. Trade name of the canola type colza seed is Canola oil. It is quite
suitable for our country conditions and can be cultivated almost everywhere in
the country. It can be cultivated both in winter and summer. It has higher
output in winter. Canola is a plant growing without irrigation. After
germinated, irrigation in spring increases the output and when the weather gets
warmer the plant grows. It doesn' t need disinfection. The plant can endure
until - 15 degree. Oil rate is %40 - %45. 450 gr oil is obtained per 1 kg seed.
Quality of the obtained vegetal oil' s food value is closed to the quality of
peanut. It has low cholesterol and it is heart friendly. Free acid level of oil
is %3. It is a natural vitamin E source. It can be used in everywhere that
sunflower oil is used. It is good frying oil.
